Just a Dream...

As asked in class, I am posting about a dream that I have had. I don't seem to remember many of my dreams, but there are a few that I remembered fairly well over time. There are often dreams in which I will dream that I wake up late for class or for work, and somehow I can't leave. They often feel very real to the point where I sometimes wake up thinking that I'm actually late. After checking the time, my mini panic attack ends. They are funny to think about afterwards, but they definitely scare me at first!

Another dream I've had is a little more serious, and almost too realistic. This involved a friend of mine who had recently passed away due to a fatal seizure the week before. Before I get into it, I must say that he really liked me, and would always try to flirt with me, even if I had a boyfriend at the time, which most of the time I did. He was very determined to win me over, which I now admire, but I never saw him as anything more than a friend. The dream started out with me walking onto a bridge, and I remember not seeing much in the distance due to fog, almost as if the background didn't matter. It was also very overcast outside, as if it had just rained. I then saw him standing on the bridge, waiting for me. He then asked me why I wouldn't date him, and I sort of put my head down, and replied, "I don't know," mostly because I couldn't believe that it was really him. If I remember correctly, he kept repeatedly asking me this, and I'm not sure if I even told him the reason why. What made the dream very realistic is the fact that he looked exactly what he would've looked like in the present day, instead of how he was when I last saw him in person a few years before. The dream had lasting effects even after I woke up, as in I became depressed and shocked for the rest of the day until I finally discussed the dream with my mom.

Week 2A- Jan. 27

During today's class, we revealed our line emotion animations. We got up and went to a different row twice to look at somebody else's animation, and try to guess what it is. I have to say that what I saw from other people was interesting, especially in the way they conveyed their particular emotion. As previously posted, my emotion was shy, and people made guesses such as nervous and cautious, which are somewhat similar to shy, so I believe I animated my line to convey the correct type of emotion to other people.

We then paired up with a partner to work on an in-class activity. This activity involved taking about 5 minutes to explain our personalities to our partner. We then cut each individual letter of our names and used the Stop Motion app on the Ipad to record several individual images of our partners moving the letters around based upon our personalities that we explained.

Next class, we will review the AfterEffects basics.

Homework:

  1. Download motion video by next class
  2. Post to Blog: write out description of a dream, choose keywords
  3. Option to redo line emotion, save old version. Due Monday

Week 1: Outside of Class

This week outside of class, I worked on and completed my line emotion video using Adobe Flash CS6, which is the first motion assignment. As mentioned in my previous post, I chose the emotion, shy. When I first started to create the video, the animation was rough, but as I continued to work on it I gradually learned different ways to make the video look better. Below you will see my first motion video!

Overall I am pleased with how it turned out, but I know there is probably a lot more to learn in order to potentially improve it's quality. I'm excited to see how everyone else's videos turned out next class!

Week 1B- Jan. 22

Today in class, we didn't do a whole lot on because of a shortened class on account of the snow storm we got the day before, and we were missing a few people. For the beginning of class, we went over to the famous "middle room" and experimented with objects that portray animation.

We first learned the meaning of a Time Code (00:00:00:00), which is hours, minutes, seconds, and frames, as well as the meaning of key frames, which are specific frames which designate the beginning and end of a movement. Next we were shown how to use Adobe Flash in order to work on our first assignment. We also learned how to create a new document, adjust width and height, fps (frames per second), and other properties. For the most part, I understand the basics of how to use it, but I am sure there's alot more to discover. Our first assignment (Linear Representation of Movement) is to create a single line and convey a particular emotion with that line, and I chose shy. It needs to be at least 15 seconds long, with 24 fps, size 720 (Width) x486 (Height), and exported as an .swf file.
